Upcoming Microsoft Entra Connect Update – Action Required by April 7, 2025

Microsoft has announced a critical hardening update that will take effect on April 7, 2025, requiring all customers to upgrade Microsoft Entra Connect Sync to the minimum supported version:

• 2.4.18.0 for customers in commercial clouds
• 2.4.21.0 for customers in noncommercial clouds

What Happens if You Don't Upgrade?

Failure to update by the deadline will result in:

• Authentication failures when using the Entra Connect Sync wizard
• AD FS & PingFederate configuration issues in the wizard
• Loss of wizard functionality requiring Entra ID sign-in

The Good News

• Sync services will continue to function after the deadline
• You can still upgrade at any time to restore full functionality

To ensure a smooth upgrade, your environment must meet the following minimum requirements:

• TLS 1.2 enabled
• .NET Framework 4.7.2 or later installed
